This is a photograph of Zion National Park, an example of what I believe to be stupefying. I believe nature to be the most beautiful thing. There is nothing that leaves me as speechless as nature does. Richard Seymour talks about emotional bonds being tied to beauty, and I believe that to be true. I feel strongly about the beauty of what was put on this earth and have an emotional response whenever I see nature whether it is at Zion or in my own backyard.
This image specifically caused an emotional response by using design influences such as line, space, and texture. It also has a certain perspective giving it the feeling that your are being pulled in. The top of the mountain lies on the top horizontal line, and the texture in this photo is almost realistic. I can almost touch the rocks and the ridges. The color also contributes because there is such a range, from the green spotty grass to the different stripes on the rocks, and the bright blue sky, each evoking a flow.  For me, there is nothing more beautiful than something not man made.
